Senior home safety & aging in place service
The front door is the one you use every day: keys in one hand, groceries in the other, a step to climb, a latch to turn. If any part of coming and going has gotten harder, tell us which part, and we'll suggest a simple first step.
Why this service
The front door is where the day starts and ends. Small things add up: a round knob that needs a firm twist, keys that are hard to hold in cold hands, a heavy storm door that swings back, a step to lift your foot over, a porch that goes dark before dinner.
We start with the one that bothers you most. Often a small change is enough: a lever you can push down without a strong grip, a keypad instead of a key, or a light that comes on when you step outside. You do not have to rebuild the entrance.
If you are helping a parent, ask them to walk you through arriving home, from the car to the couch. Where they pause is where to look. Photos of the door from both sides and of the steps help us suggest the right first job.
Some jobs are bigger than a small change: a full ramp, a new porch, rotten steps or a door that needs replacing. When that is the case, we will say so and point you to the appropriate specialist.
We start with the part of coming and going that causes the most trouble.
An easy-grip lever or offline keypad can make everyday door use simpler.
You receive a written quote for each job; structural work and rewiring remain specialist work.

The visit window includes compatibility checks, fitting, testing and a walkthrough. A straightforward swap may finish sooner.
Supplied offline keypad deadbolt with a backup key, fitted to a compatible door. You choose and manage the codes; we show you how. Wi-Fi models are separately quoted.
No app or Wi-Fi required for the standard model. We do not retain your access codes.
Adjust an existing suitable closer to reduce slamming, or supply and fit a replacement from $145.
Price shown is for an adjustment; replacing the closer has its own starting charge.
Suitable low-profile product for a rise around 2 inches or less, after measuring door swing, seals and surfaces. Not a full wheelchair ramp.
Product and size must suit the measured rise and walking route; incompatible thresholds are referred.
Two non-hardwired motion-activated lights near the door and steps, plus a brighter compatible bulb in an existing, safely accessible porch light.
No new outlets, exterior wiring or hardwired fixtures.
Battery-powered doorbell supplied and mounted; Wi-Fi and phone setup with your participation. The account remains yours. Optional cloud storage may cost extra.
We demonstrate basic use but do not provide monitoring, ongoing technology support or password storage.
A standard suitable rail at front steps or a second rail on the other side, subject to stable anchoring, substrate and local permit requirements.
Photos needed for a site-specific quote. Structural steps, damaged masonry and complex custom rail systems are referred.
Suitable traction on sound steps, after checking the finish and exposure. Loose, rotten or damaged steps need repair first.
Timing confirmed from the steps and selected product.
Defined package for one entry: two standard door levers, a small threshold ramp, two motion lights and a brighter porch bulb, traction or step visibility on up to three steps, and an entry-hardware check. Keypad locks, new rails and video doorbells are extra.
Visit time depends on measurements and selected work; see the full package inclusions.
See the Safe Entry & Access package : Safe Entry & Access packagePublished prices are starting prices for the defined tasks and suitable existing conditions. The lever price covers one standard door; additional doors in the same visit are priced separately. Your full scope and cost are agreed in writing before booking.
Send photos of the inside and outside handles and deadbolt. For steps and small thresholds, show the full approach and a ruler beside the rise.
No full ramps, porch or step rebuilds, new wiring, damaged structural supports or other licensed-trade projects are included. Security hardware, site suitability and any local permits are checked before booking.
For compatible non-app keypad locks, we demonstrate how you change codes and batteries. A Home Maintenance Plan can inspect low-battery indications and replace accessible batteries when needed; the homeowner retains the codes.

Tell us which door you use and what makes it difficult. Photos of the existing handle, lock, threshold and approach are especially useful.
We check door hardware compatibility or measure the transition, explain any specialist work and send the complete scope in writing.
We install suitable products, test the lever or transition with you and explain operation and care before leaving.
Common questions
Answers to help you choose a first step and understand the work before you request it.
One compatible entry-door lever conversion is $225; another standard door during the same visit is $150. Keypad deadbolts start at $295, storm-door closer adjustments at $85 (replacement from $145), small doorway ramps at $165, two motion lights and a porch bulb at $155, battery video doorbells at $225, and front-step handrails at $695. Non-slip steps are quoted from photos. You receive a complete written price before anything is booked.
Many front doors have a separate handle and deadbolt. We can often replace the knob with a lever while keeping a compatible working deadbolt. If the lever and deadbolt share a key, we explain before starting whether key matching is possible. Rekeying is not included; a locksmith can handle that if needed.
We use a suitable lock from a reputable manufacturer with an appropriate security rating and its own physical backup key. Compatible models usually warn when batteries are low. You set, update and delete the access codes, including separate codes for authorized family or caregivers; we do not keep a list. Our Home Maintenance Plan can check accessible keypad battery indicators and replace batteries as needed with the homeowner’s permission; it is not a lockout or emergency service.
Yes, compatible battery-operated models without new wiring. We can supply and mount the doorbell, help connect it to your Wi-Fi and phone, and demonstrate its basic features with you. You own and control the account; we do not keep passwords or provide video monitoring. Some makers charge subscriptions for recording or cloud storage; we explain these before you choose.
Sometimes a storm-door closer is adjusted to shut too quickly or firmly. We can adjust a suitable existing closer from $85 or replace a worn one from $145. A sticking, sagging or damaged main entry door may need a carpenter or door specialist instead.
For a rise of approximately 2 inches or less, a measured low-profile transition may help with some walking aids. We check the actual height, clearance, door swing, seals, and the surface first; an ill-fitting ramp can create a new hazard. Larger rises, wheelchair or scooter access requirements and full ramps are specialist work. No full accessibility ramp is included.
We can quote traction improvements after checking photos of sound steps. A standard front-step handrail starts at $695 where the structure and mounting surface are suitable. Concrete, brick and timber may need different anchors and permits. Loose, cracked or rotten steps must be repaired first, and HOA or local approvals may apply.
No. Full accessibility ramps, major elevation changes, structural porch or step reconstruction and hardwired wiring are outside our minor-modification scope. Those projects may require engineering, permits and a qualified specialist. Small measured doorway transitions are a separate limited service.
No. You may request an individual entry service directly. The Safe Entry & Access package is $695 and includes two levers, a suitable small threshold ramp, two motion lights and porch bulb, step traction or visibility, and a minor entry-hardware check.
