It concentrates on practical environmental concerns such as the main entrance, bathroom, bedroom-to-bathroom route, stairs, lighting, and other frequently used paths.

Typical timing: The visit typically takes 60–75 minutes. When possible, families can request it before the person returns home or shortly afterward so the most important routes and rooms can be reviewed early in the transition.

This is not medical clearance and it does not replace an occupational therapy evaluation. It is a practical, nonclinical home visit that helps the family identify immediate environmental concerns and decide what minor modifications may be useful within Triangle Home Safety’s scope.

The Return-Home Safety Visit evaluates the physical environment, not the person medically. If a clinical evaluation, licensed trade, or larger remodeling project is the better next step, we make that boundary clear.
